Information and society: UNESCO has published the Vancouver Declaration on Digitization and Preservation

UNESCO has published the Vancouver Declaration on Digitization and Preservation - The Memory of the World in the Digital Age: Digitization and Preservation.

It was adopted at the conference “The Memory of the World in the Digital Age: Digitization and Preservation” held from 26 to 28 September, 2012 in Vancouver (Canada).

The conference was organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the University of British Columbia and it is dedicated to the main issues of preservation of the digital documentary heritage. During the conference its participants, whose number exceeded 500 people discussed issues of improvement strategies and possible ways of digital heritage preservation and they developed the Vancouver Declaration, addressed to UNESCO and its member states, as well as professional associations and workers of the industry of IT industry.
