
Russian culture abroad: The Center of Slavic Studies, aimed at the study of modern Russian literature, opened in Beijing
In the Year of Russian literature in China was opened the Beijing Center of Slavic Studies - the first academic institution aimed at the study of modern Russian literature. In addition to the translation, the Centre will prepare graduate students. It was headed by one of the best interpreters Liu Venfey.
Last year, for the translation of Pushkin's poetry Liu Wen Fei was awarded "Read Russia". A year before, for the great contribution to the spread of Russian literature in China Liu Venfey was awarded prize of D. S. Likhachev.
Liu Wen Fei believes that China - one of the world leaders in the quantity and quality of translations of Russian literature (translated from Russian account for about one-third among translations of foreign literature).
