The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential Library collection Julian Semenov (1931-1993), dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the writer, journalist, filmmaker and social activist has been enriched with materials provided by the Cultural Foundation of Julian Semenov and the St. Petersburg State Theatre Library.

New acquisitions include digital copies of books, screenplays, letters, graphic and video illustrating his life and multifaceted, creative and social activities.

In the documentary Julian Semenov. Givenness of the good (52 min. 50 sec.) tells about the life and work of the writer and screenwriter. Particular attention is given to the novel "Seventeen Moments of Spring", "TASS is authorized to declare", "Auction", the newspaper "Top Secret", as well as social activities of Julian Semenov.

— Books

Collection Crimea of Julian Semenov (Simferopol, 2016) introduces the unknown pages of the life and work of Julian Semenov on the Crimean land.

In the book The first day of freedom (Yalta, 2016) is collected the best autobiographical prose of the writer - novels, short stories, essays. The core of the collection of short stories series "37-56" is the story "Intersections" - one of the key works of the writer. The third part of memoirs and nonfiction essay "Unwritten Novels" is first fully published in author's edition.

The collection of short stories by J. S. Semenov Novels (Moscow, 1966) includes the following works: Horses and People, Ice Assistant, Nightwatch, Trail, The rain in gutters, My guide, In the mountains my heart is…, Execution of Ataman.

—Screenplays

The script of the film Face to Face (M., 1985), based on the novel "Auction" (1985) about the search for cultural values ​​lost during the Second World War. Photo report about the shooting of the film "Face to face" The film is made in Tallinn // Soviet Estonia. 1989 (May 18).

The collection includes letters of Julian Semenov’s father - Semyon Alexandrovich Lyanders addressed to his wife Galina (1945) and his son Julian (1945), a few letters, postcards of J. Semenov for his wife Catherine Mihalkova for 1959, 1962, 1965 (1) 1965 (2) years as well as writing postcards by Julian Semenov from different persons: from E. A. Baron von Faltz-Fein (1985-1989), the Bulgarian writer A. Mandadzhiev (1988), by Charles Buxton, the English translation of the novel "TASS is authorized to declare" (1985) from the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet Presidium Andrei Gromyko (1986).

The collection has been enriched with 47 photographs. The most interesting images enriched the section Activity of J. Semenov in photographs.

Two photos from meetings of J. Semenov with the prototypes of characters of the novel "Seventeen Moments of Spring": J. Semenov during an interview with A.
