Summary The Kazan province was formed in 1708 in the course of the administrative-territorial reform of the Russian Empire, the basis of the province was the territory of the Kazan kingdom, which formally existed after the seizure of the Kazan Khanate in 1552, was headed by the king of the Russian state as personal union and administrativelyIt was controlled by the so -called order of the Kazan Palace in Moscow.Initially, the Kazan province covered the territories from Nizhny Novgorod to Astrakhan and was divided into voivodship, from 1719 - into the provinces, from 1775 to counties.In 1781, the Kazan province was transformed into governorship (since 1796 - again the province), which included 13 counties.Abolished in 1920.
