Summary In 1802, the province of Nikolaevskaya, renamed in 1803 to Kherson, was allocated from the Novorossiysk province.In 1803–1873The province was part of the New Russia-General Governor.At the beginning of the twentieth century, it included 6 counties.In 1918, three northern districts departed from Crimea to Ukraine, including Dneprovsky, it became an integral part of the Kherson province.In 1920, the Kherson province was divided into Kherson and Odessa.Nikolaev became the center of the Kherson province.In 1920, the Kherson province was renamed Nikolaev, and in 1922 the Odessa and Nikolaev provinces were united in the Odessa province
