Dostoevsky's White Nights translated into Swahili

The Russian House in Dar es Salaam translated into Swahili, one of the most significant languages ​​of the African continent, and published the novel White Nights on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Dostoevsky. The first print run was 500 copies. Presentations are planned at the Tanzania National Central Library, the Swahili Development Council and the Swahili Institute of the University of Dar es Salaam.

The literary translation was carried out by the famous Tanzanian philologist and translator, Professor Joshua Madumulla, and the specialists of the Russian House edited the text. The decoration of the publication was prepared by a student of the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute at the Russian Academy of Arts Diana Nekrasova.

The books will be donated to libraries of secondary schools and universities, Dostoevsky museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Staraya Russa, as well as graduates of Russian universities, students of Russian language courses, and artists of creative groups.

In October and November, the Russian House will present an audio recording of the story on the air of the author's radio program Recalling Russia, and the students’ theater studio of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dar es Salaam has already begun preparing a play based on Dostoevsky's work.

A large number of materials dedicated to the Russian classics are presented in the large-scale electronic collection of the Presidential Library, which includes digital copies of the texts of his works and publications about the life and career of the writer.

Some of the materials from the electronic collections of the Presidential Library are available on the institution's portal and in full at the remote access centers opened in 30 foreign countries.
