Teacher's Day and the beginning of the new academic year at the Russian language courses were noted at the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia

On the International Teacher's Day in the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia, a festive meeting of teachers of the Russian language with the collective of the Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria was held, where teachers were congratulated on the professional holiday and the opening of the new academic year at the Russian language courses as a foreign language in the RCIC.

The meeting reflected the creation of an expert council to study and popularize the Russian language in Bulgaria. The council will be composed of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria, leading philologists, Russian language teachers and independent experts. An animated discussion was prompted by the increase in the number of listeners in the Russian language courses as a foreign language in the RCIC and the development of a regional network of courses as a response to the growing demand for the study of the Russian language in Bulgaria.

The interlocutors noted the importance of introducing new methods of teaching, the use of modern electronic teaching materials and multimedia technologies, as well as the need to attract young Russian language teachers to work on courses on the basis of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Bulgaria.

The Russian language courses in the Sofia RCIC cover all levels of language proficiency. Specialized programs for children from 5 years are also offered. The total number of course listeners is growing year by year-so, in the 2015/16 school year, the level of knowledge of the Russian language was increased by 580 people, and in the 2016/17 academic year - by several tens more. Almost half of the students are young people aged 21 to 30, which confirms the growing interest in Russian language in Bulgaria as a language for career and business. Young children from Bulgarian and mixed families who are interested in Russian culture and education prevail on courses for younger children.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Russian language". The collection includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian writing, archival affairs, scientific works (including dissertations and abstracts of dissertations), dictionaries and reference books, textbooks of various types and levels. The digital collection "Russian language" is of interest not only for the scientific and educational community, linguists and specialists in the popularization of the Russian language on the Internet, but also for a wide range of users who love and value their native language.
