Amorous drama of the brothers of the Counts Gregory and Sergei Seversky, unfolding amid the military events of 1812. With the retreat of the Russian army from Moscow, it is believed that one of the brothers was killed, and the second enters the partisan detachment of Denis Davydov. The guerrillas liberate the Seversky manor, seized by the French. The bride of Sergei Seversky goes together with Grigory to the front to seek his fiance. The final describes the Battle of Berezina.
