The exposition "Russian icon of the XI - XIX centuries", where the exhibits are located, was opened on May 18, 2004 and is still valid. The icon presented in the album was written in 1509 by the Moscow masters Ivan Derma Yartsev and Andrew Lavrentiev at the request of the Novgorodian ruler Serapion the First for the passionate series iconostasis of St. Sophia Cathedral of Veliky Novgorod. The icon consists of three compositions: "Washing the Feet", "Taking Christ in Detention" or "Kiss of Judas", and "The Murder of Christ". These scenes illustrate the events of the Holy Week on the eve of crucified Christ On the composition "Washing the Feet" Christ during the Last Supper is washing his feet to his disciples, thereby giving a lesson of selfless service to each other. The story "Taking Christ in custody" or "Kiss of Judas" illustrates the scene of the meeting of Jesus Christ, accompanied by the apostles with the guards of Judas, kissing Jesus, points at him to the soldiers, and Christ is taken into custody.
