The Presidential Library: New acquisitions
The Presidential Library collection Territory has been enriched with photographs of Staraya Ladoga from private collection.
Staraya Ladoga was founded not later than 750's in the lower reaches of the river Volkhov. The first mention of Ladoga is in "The Tale of Bygone Years" under 862 of the ten oldest cities in Russia. Staraya Ladoga to this day preserved ancient buildings from the end of the first millennium A. D.
New acquisitions include photographs of the Staraya Ladoga Fortress, the Church of St. George of the XII century with well-preserved original frescoes, the Nikolsky Monastery, the Holy Dormition nunnery, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Malyshevaia Mountain, the Church of Alexis, the Man of God. The photographs of the Staraya Ladoga archaeological expedition are also presented: leader of the expedition Professor A. N. Kirpichnikov, works in the excavations of clearing house-hostel and found finds (vintage prints, jewelry).

Demetrios of Thessaloniki Church
The first mention of the church belong to 1646 In 1731 on the site of the old was cut down a new one. In 1901 the church was demolished due to dilapidation and collected again on a stone foundation.

Staraya Ladoga Nikolsky Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries in Staraya Ladoga, according to legend founded by St. Alexander Nevsky after the victory over the Swedes in 1240, the first mention of the monastery dates back to 1401.

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Malyshevaya Mountain - the former Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Monastery, now acting Orthodox church located on the northern edge of Old Ladoga. The church is known by references to 1276, the current building was built in 1695.

Staraya Ladoga Holy Dormition nunnery
Foundation of the monastery belongs to the period between 1040-1116 years. According to one version, the monastery was founded in the beginning of the XII century, when was built the ancient stone temple Ladoga, which has been now in force, the Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1114-1116).
