"Donors of besieged Leningrad" and "Donors of Hope"

On July 8th, 2024 at 12:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library will be hosting a public screening and discussion of the new documentary "Donors of Besieged Leningrad", as well as a roundtable discussion on the topic of "Donors of Hope", which will focus on the development and future of donation in today's world. These events will take place on the occasion of the Day of Family, Love, and Faithfulness, as part of the Public Socio-Cultural Program "I Believe in My People".

The goal of these events is to raise public awareness about the importance of the donation institution as one of humanity's most significant phenomena, and to express gratitude towards those who voluntarily and selflessly donate their blood to save lives, both during difficult times of the blockade in the past and in modern times.

Memoirs From Contemporaries Describe Life Of Last Russian Emperor's Wife

The attitude of contemporaries towards Alexandra Feodorovna, the last Russian empress, was complex. Some people saw her as overbearing and arrogant, while others viewed her as shy and quiet. They laughed at the fact that only girls were born in the imperial family instead of an expected heir. Some sympathized and pitied Alexandra, while others accused her of having too much influence over Nicholas II. Some admired the touching relationship between the two as crowned spouses, while others believed it was inappropriate. 

To truly understand Alexandra, it was necessary to see her in her home and family circle and in her study, according to Vladimir Shulenberg, who wrote about her in his memoirs recently published on the Presidential Library's portal.

Collection "World War II in archival documents" includes more than 100 documents of Soviet intelligence agencies

A new addition to the World War II Archive on the Presidential Library's portal included more than 100 documents from Soviet intelligence agencies, covering the period from November 1942 to November 1944. These documents were kept in the archive of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation.

The majority of these documents are secret service messages, or cipher telegrams, received from Soviet agents abroad (London, New York, Washington, and Stockholm) to the First Directorate (Intelligence) of the NKVD (later NKGB) in the USSR. Additionally, there are special messages and intelligence reports from the leadership of the First Directorate to the State Defence Committee, including I. V. Stalin, V. M. Molotov, and L. P. Beria, as well as to the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs (NKID) of the USSR.

Contest of pedagogical projects "The future of the Fatherland in the hands of a Teacher"

The Presidential Library is hosting a contest for educational projects titled "The Future of the Fatherland in the Hands of Teachers". In 2023, teachers from all over Russia participated in the contest, with a total of more than 750 projects submitted. In 2024, the Presidential Library will hold the contest for the second time, supported by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and State University of Education. Applications are accepted from April 1st to August 5th, 2024.

Winners and finalists of the competition will be invited to the Presidential Library for an awards ceremony, where they will receive diplomas, commemorative prizes, and have their works published on the Presidential Library's portal.

Exhibition "Friend and contemporary of A. S. Pushkin - Pyotr Pletnyov"

From June 25 to July 9, 2024, the Presidential Library will host an online exhibition dedicated to the 225th anniversary of A.S. Pushkin's birth. The exhibition celebrates the creative and personal connection between two prominent figures - Pyotr Pletnyov and Alexander Pushkin. 

It was created by experts from Gorky Scientific Library and is based on digitized images of pre-revolutionary books and journals from the collection of the St. Petersburg State University archives.
