The Presidential Library's multimedia lesson to spotlight the point of attraction of Kronstadt - the “Island of Forts”

3 April 2024

The Presidential Library and St. Petersburg State Economic University continue a joint educational project. As part of this project, on April 3, 2024 at 11 a.m., the Presidential Library will host a multimedia lesson entitled “Kotlin Island: from the glacial moraine to new heights of hospitality in St. Petersburg” which will continue the cycle “The Origins of St. Petersburg Hospitality: Events, People, Places”. Senior pupils from St. Petersburg schools will join it.

The lesson will be taught by Victoria Petrovna Orlovskaya, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Service and Congress and Exhibition Activities of the Faculty of Service, Tourism and Hospitality of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics. She will talk about new traditions and standards of modern hospitality in St. Petersburg, about the history of Kotlin Island and the “Island of Forts” project - a new urban cultural cluster of Kronstadt dedicated to the history of the Navy.

Schoolchildren will learn about the innovative museum complex, learn what an immersive exhibition is, and most importantly, trace the development of the territory that was once located at the bottom of the ancient Baltic Sea, which is now a modern museum complex with the highest level of service infrastructure.

This is the second multimedia lesson this year from the series “The Origins of St. Petersburg Hospitality: Events, People, Places”. The first lesson took place on February 28 and was dedicated to entrepreneurship in the restaurant industry of St. Petersburg.
