The Presidential Library to provide online quiz marking Cadet Day

From March 25 to March 31, 2024, the Presidential Library is holding an online quiz dedicated to Cadet Day. This year the quiz is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege.

Cadets and students of military schools and cadet corps, students of cadet classes of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergency Situations and Disaster Relief are invited to participate in the quiz.

To prepare for the quiz, one must use materials from the collection “Defence and Siege of Leningrad”, presented on the Presidential Library's portal. The collection contains both original sources from the years of the siege, as well as historical research dedicated to the greatest feat of the soldiers of the Red Army, the heroism and perseverance of the Leningraders who defended their hometown. It is also recommended to study the virtual tour of the Presidential Library exhibition “Materialized Memory: Defence and Siege of Leningrad in Museum Exhibitions”.

Studying materials from the library collections will help to complete the tasks of the online quiz. To participate in the quiz, one must register on the Presidential Library's portal using the link. Here are the terms and conditions of the quiz.

Participants are asked to complete 16 tasks: 10 of them are test questions, 5 are questions with the ability to enter a text answer, and 1 is a task of increased complexity. The correct answers to the questions of the online quiz will be published on the Presidential Library's portal on April 1. The winner of the online quiz will be the student who scores the most points and answers all questions correctly.

The award ceremony for the winner of the online quiz will take place on Cadet Day at the Presidential Library on April 9, 2024 at 11:00 (Moscow time). As part of this event, there will also be an in-person quiz for teams of students from St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

Participants will be asked to go through several stages:

– blitz test (answers to 5 questions on the topic of the quiz game in the multimedia complex of the Presidential Library);

– team contest (answers to three questions on the topic of the quiz game);

– captain contest (team captains and their chosen assistant answer a question on the topic of the quiz game);

– finalist contest (the two teams with the most points answer a difficult question on the topic of the quiz game).

All quiz questions are based on materials from the Presidential Library's holdings, presented in the collection “Defence and Siege of Leningrad” and in the virtual tour “Materialized Memory: Defence and Siege of Leningrad in Museum Exhibitions”.

The event will be broadcast on April 9 on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
