The Presidential Library provides a quiz tournament dedicated to Alexander Nevsky

The Presidential Library is a co-organizer of the All-Russian open quiz tournament “Life as a feat. Alexander Nevsky". The event will take place on April 20, 2024 from 10:00 to 18:00 (Moscow time) in an online format.

Alexander Nevsky is the Grand Prince, during whose reign Rus' defended its independence from Western Europe and the East. He is called one of the key figures in the history of the formation of Russian statehood. Alexander Nevsky lived at a time when Rus', a once powerful state, was in a state of fragmentation. However, despite all the difficulties, the prince managed to unite the Russian lands into a single centralized state.

The holy noble Prince, commander Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky did not lose a single battle in his life and was able to preserve the Russian land in the conditions of the Tatar-Mongol invasion. He is canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church as a saint. The life and activity of the Grand Prince is an excellent example of deep state wisdom, work, energy and self-sacrifice.

To prepare questions for the quiz tournament, the Presidential Library features documents and materials dedicated to Prince Alexander Nevsky. Electronic copies of printed publications and video lectures are available on the Presidential Library's portal in the collection Alexander Nevsky (1221–1263), which also includes studies, essays, biographies, lives, speeches, archival and visual materials.

The main goal of the quiz tournament is to involve participants in active research activities, develop independent research skills, encourage them to study historical literature and expand knowledge about Russian and world history. The event is aimed at increasing the level of knowledge of students through familiarization with little-known facts and rare documents, as well as understanding the material found and finding the correct answer to the questions posed. The quiz tournament will help identify and support gifted and talented students.

Schoolchildren of grades 7–11, college students, 1st–2nd year students of higher educational institutions, as well as students of cadet corps and cadet classes, Suvorov students, Yunarmy members, members of sports and creative groups, informal associations of the city of Moscow are invited to join the quiz tournament and other regions of Russia. The age of the participants is from 14 to 21 years. The number of teams from one organization is not limited, the number of teams is up to 5 people. The winners will be awarded in person.

Organizers of the quiz tournament: the All-Russian public movement of mentors of children and youth “Mentors of Russia”, the Presidential Library, the Law and Order-Shield Foundation and the Association of Heads of Information Security Services with the support of the Moscow Center “Patriot.Sport”, the International Academy of Communications and the Domain Coordination Center.
