Gala concert dedicated to Victory Day held in the Presidential Library

On May 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., the Presidential Library will host a solemn event timed to coincide with the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The organizers are the Administration of the Admiralteysky district of St. Petersburg and the Presidential Library.

Victory Day celebrations are held annually in the historic building at Senate Square, 3. Tours of the Presidential Library and a celebratory concert are organized for veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

The concert will be accompanied by the orchestra of wind instruments of the St. Petersburg Mussorgsky Music College, conducted by Janis Bartashevich. The orchestra, founded in 1926, is the winner of numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of the Russian Open Festival-competition of brass bands, ensembles and soloists "Vivat, student!" in Moscow. It usually performs at iconic venues in St. Petersburg.

Military marches from different periods of the history of our Motherland will be performed by a brass band in the Presidential Library. The concert will be conducted by Yuri Serov, director of the St. Petersburg Mussorgsky Music College, Doctor of Art History, author of numerous lectures, articles and essays about music.

A celebratory concert will be broadcasted on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social network VKontakte.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. Since 2010, a major electronic collection Memory of the Great Victory has been formed on the institution's portal. It includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, evidence of participants in combat battles and home front workers: video recordings of interviews, diaries and personal documents, images of military and labor awards.

The Presidential Library's portal also presents a Collection of digitized archival documents, film and photo materials World War II in Archival Documents, which has been formed jointly with the Federal Archival Agency since 2020. The volume of the Collection today is more than 12 thousand materials: maps, diagrams, periodicals, photographs, newsreels for the period from January 1933 to December 1944.
