The Presidential Library will join the contest “Serving the Fatherland: Events and Names”

The Presidential Library will hold a multimedia nomination as part of the Inter-regional historical and educational competition of research and creative works, "Serving the Fatherland: Events and Names" to be launched April 1, 2016. The works shall be submitted until October 1, 2016.

The contest includes four nominations: "Historical", "Literary", "Art-Pictorial" and "Multimedia." The last nomination is provided with technological and organizational support of the Presidential Library. The nomination is open to high school students, students of secondary vocational schools and secondary general education institutions of the Russian Federation. The teachers of educational institutions, museum and library workers can be co-authors of the works together with the students. This year features the following subjects: 320th anniversary of establishment of the regular fleet of Russia: events that influenced the formation and development of our country as a world sea power; The History of Russian Constitution (based on the documents from the electronic museum http://www.rusconstitution.ru/); The History of Russian Laws from Russkaya Pravda to the Russian Constitution; 250th anniversary of birth of Nikolai Karamzin, Russian statesman, writer, poet, essayist and historian; 130th anniversary of birth of Nikolai Gumilev, Russian poet, translator and traveler; 165th anniversary of birth of Olga Konstantinovna Romanova, Grand Duchess, the Queen of the Hellenes (1851-1926). One of the topics features Boris Smirnov, Soviet pilot, veteran of the Spanish Civil War, Hero of the Soviet Union.

The works submitted to the contest are to be created in 2015-2016 in the following genres: art video, documentary video, animation (author's), report. Duration of the video - no more than 10 minutes. The file size should not exceed 200 MB. The main criteria for evaluation of works: originality, compliance with the announced topics and compliance with the requirements in regards of the content and design of works, the treatment of the subject, singularity of the submitted materials.

Participants of the contest will be given certificates, authors of the best works, winners and prize-winners of the competition will be invited to St. Petersburg to participate in the ceremony of awarding the winners of the contest.

The contest has been held since 2008. It aims to foster respect for national history, commemorate the names and deeds of our compatriots who made the greatest contribution to the development of Russian statehood, who became the personification of the idea of ​​public service, which is reviving in the modern Russia. It is organized by the Interregional Public Foundation "Center of National Glory." The contest is held under the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library, the High Command of the Navy of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that the Presidential Library and the Center of National Glory are developing an efficient cooperation. The first national electronic library of Russia has repeatedly taken part in the projects of the Centre of National Glory, such as exhibitions, competitions and other joint activities. In addition, the competition of research and creative works, "Serving the Fatherland: Events and Names" has repeatedly invited the experts of the Presidential Library as jury members.
