Decembrists in the History of Russia

The year of 2015 marks the 190th anniversary of the Decembrist revolt on the Senate Square in St. Petersburg. In memory of the event the Presidential Library has prepared a thematic collection "Decembrists in Russia's history."

The collection includes electronic copies of monographs, popular science books, collections of documents, reading-books, postcards.

The first section contains the official documents on investigation and trial of the participants in the uprising, reform projects, letters, literary works, numerous notes and memories.

The second section of the collection includes researches on the history of Decembrist revolt: scientific and popular works of the 19th – 20th centuries.

The third section features illustrative sources: portraits of the Decembrists, images of memorable places.

The collection comprises 168 units and will be useful for students of secondary and higher education institutions, their teachers and professors, as well as professional historians.

To develop the collection the library specialists used the materials from the Children's Museum of Postcards, State Public Historical Library of Russia, Don State Public Library, Russian radio station "Nashe Radio", Krupskaya Moscow Regional State Scientific Library, Moscow State University, Omsk State Pedagogical University, Russian State Library, Russian Book Chamber, Russian Institute of Art History, Russian History Channel, Sverdlovsk Regional Library for Children and Youth, Northwest Institute of Management, St. Petersburg State University, Siberian Federal University, Tula Regional Universal Scientific Library, Tyumen Regional Scientific Library, Ural Federal University, Center for Information Technologies and Systems of the Executive Branch, as well as contributions from private collections.
