Ufa on the map of Russia

The city of Ufa is the capital of Republic of Bashkortostan, one of the largest cities of Russia - in 2015 it became the venue of the summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group.

The collection, dedicated to Ufa, includes materials on the history of the city since its founding in 1574, revealing some aspects of political, economic and religious life; maps and plans of the city, its parts and individual buildings, among which especially can be distinguished the draft of the Aksakov People's House (now the building of the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre); views of pre-revolutionary Ufa, captured by a pioneer of color photography in Russia S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky during his trip to the Urals in 1910.

The sources for the formation of the collection are the funds of the following institutions: the Ahmed Zaki Validi National Library of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Ufa), the Russian State Historical Archive, the Library of Congress, the Russian State Library, the Perm State Regional Library, the Children's Museum of a postcard, the radio station "Nashe Radio".
