The Presidential Library’s conference spotlighted the upbringing and traditions of Alexander Pushkin’s family

On February 10, 2023 the Presidential Library hosted the annual conference and webinar "Alexander Pushkin's Memorial Day in the Presidential Library". Marking the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, declared by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the event was dedicated to the poet's educators and teachers, including his nanny Arina Rodionovna, who would turn 265 years this year.

The conference and webinar was broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section, RuTube-channel of the institution, as well as social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

The purpose of the conference and webinar was to tell about the life of the poet and certain areas of his career.

Well-known scientists, Pushkin scholars, local historians, employees of federal institutions of education, science and culture performed at the event for students and schoolchildren.

A wide range of issues was focused on. Listeners learned about the family traditions of the Pushkin family, about those who raised the future writer, what books he read and what folk proverbs and sayings he later transferred to his artistic world, etc.

A separate speech was devoted to the investigation into the circumstances of the death of the great poet. Based on the materials of the investigation and the trial in the case of the tragic duel, the conference participants were told who and how was punished for this duel and what would have threatened Pushkin if he had survived.

Federal innovation projects created in memory of the Russian genius and aimed at promoting the creative heritage of the poet were be the topics of the conference and webinar.

The live broadcast was followed by a video fragment of the author's performance "The Tale of Saltan and Gvidon".

The event ended with an interregional quiz about the Presidential Library’s information resources which will be held at the remote access centers.

The Presidential Library’s collections contain a large number of materials that tell about the life and career of the classic of Russian literature. They are available in the electronic collection Alexander Pushkin (1799–1837). It includes digital copies of books, articles, archival documents, abstracts, dissertations, video films, postcards, drawings and paintings depicting the poet and people of his oeuvre.
