The Presidential Library joined LAE working group meeting and opened a remote access center in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library

On April 3, 2024, a meeting of the working group of the Eurasian Library Assembly to coordinate joint events to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the National Library of Belarus. The meeting was attended by LAE President, Director General of the Russian State Library Vadim Duda, Chairman of the Belarusian Library Association, Director of the Fundamental Library of the Belarusian State University Vladimir Kulazhenko, Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin.

On the same day, a remote access center to the resources of the Presidential Library was opened at the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. An agreement on cooperation between the organizations was also signed. The document was signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Director of the Yakub Kolas Central Library Stanislav Yuretsky.

The signing of a cooperation agreement is aimed at meeting the information needs of society, as well as popularizing the historical and cultural heritage of the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus.

Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov noted: “Thanks to the opening of the remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, users of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library gained access to the entire collections of the library. We hope that our cooperation will be developed and strengthened”. As part of the signed agreement, it is planned to exchange electronic copies of documents and materials to enter the collections of both parties, as well as the mutual use of information resources.

The Presidential Library's collections digitally include books and periodicals, newsreels, photographs, scientific and educational films, theses, archival documents and materials on the history of Russian statehood, the theory and practice of law, and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

The Presidential Library's portal features the electronic collection Russia – Belarus: the History of Relations which includes official documents, archival evidence, cartographic and visual materials that spotlight the political, legal, military, socio-economic and cultural aspects of interaction between the two countries.

Earlier, on April 2, on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, during the visit of the delegation of the Presidential Library to the National Library of Belarus and the Presidential Library of Republic of Belarus, a solemn ceremony was held to sign cooperation agreements and open remote access centers to the resources of the Presidential Library.
