On April 15, 2024, specialists from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library, held an interactive lesson for schoolchildren “Hero’s Birthday”.

Center employee Svetlana Dobrovolskaya introduced the students to the history of the establishment of the highest state award - the title “Hero of the Soviet Union”.

The participants were able to use a QR-code leading to materials from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library Memory of the Great Victory. It includes official documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, testimonies of participants in military battles and home front workers.

By answering the quiz questions, participants learned about the exploits of the Heroes of the Soviet Union: Alexander Pokryshkin, Vladimir Ermak, Viktor Talalikhin, Zinaida Portnova, Valentina Grizodubova and others.

The Presidential Library's portal features the collection Alexander Pokryshkin (1913–1985). It includes research, archival documents, photographs and audiovisual materials dedicated to his life and career.
