The Presidential Library joins the All-Russian Forum of Central Libraries

The Presidential Library joins the All-Russian Forum “The Role of Central Libraries of Russian Regions in the Implementation of the National Project “Culture””. The event takes place at the Gorky Ryazan Regional Universal Scientific Library within two days – April 17 and 18, 2024.

The forum includes a central expert session, dialogue platforms, round tables and creative laboratories, excursions to new generation libraries of the city of Ryazan and the region, to the Regional Center for Conservation and Restoration of Library Collections of Ryazan Region.

The central expert session “National Project “Culture”: investing in people” took place on April 17. This is an important platform for the exchange of experience and ideas, as well as for discussing strategic directions for the development of librarianship in Russia.

Representatives of Russian regions attended the session. They are directors and deputy directors of federal libraries, representatives of central regional and municipal libraries.

At the event, a video report was made by Director General of the Presidential Library, Yuri Nosov. Speaking about the educational projects of the Presidential Library, he noted the great responsibility of cultural institutions, which must promote the study of the Russian language and literature as the basis of national identity, protect and enhance the diversity of national cultural traditions and customs. It is extremely important to create broad access for Russian citizens to cultural heritage and ensure a sustainable interest in the history and culture of our country among the younger generation.

Particular attention at the session was paid to the importance of collections and electronic resources of libraries in the modern digital environment, effective data management, and the creation and promotion of digital event formats. Issues of modernizing library institutions, developing the industry's human resources, and current trends in the education and training of library specialists were also discussed.

On April 18, Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov will take part in a special event of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation “Project work on the full integration of libraries of new regions into the cultural space of the country” which will take place as part of the forum. Via video conferencing mode, Yuri Nosov will talk about the prospects for cooperation of the Presidential Library with cultural, scientific and educational institutions in new regions.

Since 2019, the forum has been a strategic communication platform for the national project “Culture” for specialists in the field of librarianship, authorities, public figures, representatives of non-profit organizations and business.

The key issues of the forum are:

– the library is a world of opportunities for everyone;

– modernization of Russian libraries at the present stage;

– integration of libraries of new Russian regions into the professional space;

– development of the industry’s human resources potential;

– interaction between the state, business and non-profit organizations;

– collections and electronic resources of libraries in the digital environment;

– the potential of creative industries and IT technologies in the development of libraries;

– interdepartmental interaction.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of Ryazan Region. The organizers are the Russian State Library, the National Library of Russia, the Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, the Russian State Children's Library, the Moscow State Institute of Culture, the Gorky Ryazan Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Russian Library Association, the Public Chamber of Ryazan Region, the Ryazan Library Society.
