Regional Centre of Information Resources of Presidential Library joined educational campaign "Total dictation"

On April 20, 2024, the Regional Centre of Information Resources of the Presidential Library of the Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Research Library, traditionally hosted the annual event Total Dictation, which was held on it's 20th anniversary time. The event was hosted by Olga Babushkina, head of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library.

Total Dictation is a worldwide educational campaign that originated within the walls of Novosibirsk State University. The purpose of the campaign is to popularize literacy, attract attention to the problems of language proficiency and provide an opportunity for everyone to test themselves in a friendly atmosphere.

It is important to note that every year there are more and more of Volgograd citizens who want to test their spelling skills! This year, the author of the text was the novelist, essayist, editor Anna Matveeva, who adressed the topic of keeping a personal diary. The material contained interesting means of artistic expression and rare punctuation techniques.

Whether they listened attentively in the classroom and were able to put their knowledge into practice, the dictation participants will find out when their work is checked. Those who have completed the task with the highest score of "excellent" will take part in the award ceremony.

The Russian Language collection is presented on the portal of the Presidential Library. It includes more than 1,100 of depository items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian writing, archival affairs, scientific works, dictionaries, reference books, textbooks and much more. The collection allows readers to broaden their horizons of knowledge in the field of Russian language as the official language of the Russian Federation and can help in preparing for Total Dictation. The collection would be interesting to representatives of the scientific and educational community, linguists, specialists in popularizing the Russian language on the Internet, as well as a wide range of users who love and appreciate their native language.
