Сonference dedicated to preservation of traditional family values held at Presidential Library

The issues of promoting national cultural heritage in the electronic environment in order to popularize state policy in the field of family protection and preservation of traditional family values were considered on April 24, 2024 at the annual scientific and practical conference, that was held at the Presidential Library. The event was timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Presidential Library.

The focus was on the preservation and actualization of family and historical memory in the context of strengthening the cultural sovereignty of Russia. The event took place in the Year of the Family, declared in our country by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.

Opening the conference, Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, highlighted: "Working with family is one of the important activities of libraries in the electronic environment. Supporting the family spiritually, making her life more interesting through books and communication is the library's priority task."

During the conference, the opening ceremony of the exhibition of works of the winners of the International Competition of Children's Compositions and Drawings was held through a teleconference with the Donetsk People's Republic. The competition was organized for the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege. The event was simultaneously held at the Art-Donbass Art Museum in Donetsk and at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg. Representatives of 20 countries of the world took part in the essay and drawing competition. The works were dedicated to the courage of the citizens of Leningrad who survived the blockade, and the soldiers who liberated the great city. Pavel Kuzmin, Director General of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M.I.Rudomino, that organized the competition, told about the competition. The Library of Foreign Literature is a strategic partner of the Presidential Library.

The following topics were discussed at the conference:

– Families and dynasties in the history and culture of Russia;

– Library of the XXI century and the family: values, interests, prospects;

– Family memory as a historical and cultural heritage in the digital age;

– Cultural practices and creative initiatives of libraries in the electronic environment for the formation of the spiritual culture of the family, the preservation of family traditions and values;

– "Digital humanities": new technologies in the representation of family memory in an electronic environment.

The conference was attended by researchers, librarians, teachers, graduate students, employees of various cultural institutions, heads and employees of state and municipal bodies and institutions, public organizations.

Family is the basis for the formation of a person's personality, where everyone acquires various skills, interest in reading and skills of reading culture. The electronic collection of documents "Family and traditional family values in Russia as the basis of Russian statehood" is available on the portal of the Presidential Library. Based on materials from the library's collection, the history of the development of the family institute from the time of Ancient Russia to the present is shown. The Presidential Library has also released a calendar featuring children's drawings of participants in the library's competition dedicated to the Year of the Family.
