The Presidential Library to participate in the XI Saint-Petersburg International Book Fair

The Presidential Library will present more than 450 thousand digital copies of archival documents and rare editions, reflecting the long history of the Russian state, the theory and practice of law, as well as Russian language as a state language of the Russian Federation in the framework of the XI St. Petersburg International Book Fair, which will take place from 26 to May 29, 2016 in St. Petersburg.

An interactive information kiosk will be running for visitors of the fair. With it, anyone can take a virtual tour of the building of the Synod of the historical complex, where the first electronic national library is located. At the Book Fair it will also be available a full consultation on the electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library and learning how to use its resources via the Internet. Particular attention will be paid to the educational projects of the Presidential Library. There are the Olympiad, video materials, educational forums as well as cinema clubs and multimedia lessons.   

This year marks 181 years of the Synod historic complex. Visitors of the Book fair will be able to familiarize themselves with digital copies of rare books and documents related to the history of the Holy Governing Synod. These are research, white papers, sources of personal origin, journalism, plans and drawings, photographs and postcards, a selection of the reports of the most famous chief procurator of the Synod Konstantin Petrovich Pobedonostsev at the Office of the Orthodox confession, as well as periodicals, reflecting the history of the Holy Synod - the supreme body of the church -State management of Russian church in 1721-1917 years.  

2016 is the Year of Cinema in Russia. As part of this iconic theme at the XI St. Petersburg International Book Fair the Presidential Library will present at the plasma panel the digitized posters of Lenfilm.

For the Presidential Library to participate in the activities of the St. Petersburg International Book Fair has become a tradition. Last year it was presented the main collection of the first electronic library "The memory of the Great Victory". Today, the "winning" collection of the Presidential Library has more than 22 thousands of rare and unique materials related to the war of 1941-1945. The collection includes official documents, photographs and newsreels, newspapers of wartime books, publications of advocacy character, evidence of combatants’ battle and home front workers, their personal documents, images, military and labor awards, monuments and memorials, responses to war of grandchildren and great grandchildren of veterans.
