Presidential Library continues its cooperation with Russian universities

The Presidential Library and Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design just have become the strategic partners in the preservation and promotion of historical and cultural heritage of Russia. This is stated in the cooperation agreement, which the Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin and a rector of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design Alexey Demidov have signed.

The agreement foresees the implementation of scientific and educational, outreach and awareness-raising work, including the organization and holding of joint conferences, exhibitions, seminars and other events. The resources of the Presidential Library will allow teachers and students to carry out deep and thorough studies. Particular attention will be paid to the selection of the documents, which are of great historical and cultural significance, and its application in the current infosphere. Before the two institutions is the task of establishing the national repository of information resource, which will include converted into the digital format editions and documents.

Such focus area is one of the strategic for the Presidential Library. There are more than half a million units in its digital fund today. Among them are the electronic copies of printed and archive material, audio and video, authors’ abstracts and other materials related to the long history of the Russian state, the theory and practice of law, as well as the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

This is not the first example of the joint work of the Presidential Library and higher education institutions. Up to date the cooperation agreements are already concluded with 94 institutions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, 29 of them are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

In order to interact with universities on July 14, 2016, the Presidential Library has signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of Russian leading universities. The possibilities that will open with this partnership will let Russian universities actively use the unique library resources in their educational and research work. In addition, it is planned to train specialists in the field of information processing and users service of electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the universities – association the members.
