Educational event "History of writing and book case" in the Lermontov Library, Penza

June 20 in the Lermontov Library for adolescents who are registered in the departments for the affairs of minors in Penza, an educational event entitled "History of writing and book case" was organized.

Specialists of the Electronic Reading Room prepared a presentation, telling about different writing systems, starting from cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs. The children followed the evolution of materials for writing: clay tablets, papyrus, parchment. We learned about the history of the invention of paper and the technology of its manufacture in ancient China. The adolescents were very surprised to learn that the word "code" signifies not only a legislative act containing systematized norms of the field of law, but also the historical form of the book that replaced the scroll. The form of the code has modern books.
