In the photo: a souvenir badge "There is a fire in a tight stove ...". A rectangular icon in the form of a fragment of a log wall, along the bottom edge of the symbolic image of the table on which a lit lamp from the artillery shell on the left is located, its flame forms a ledge at the top of the badge. On the wall there is an inscription in four lines: "The fire is beating in a close stove ..." The image of the details is embossed. White metal. Red and yellow enamels. Stamping. The size is 15x23 mm. Pin fastening. On the reverse side - the brand of the manufacturer: Experienced factory of metal haberdashery and souvenirs "Leningrad souvenir", the price is 14 kopecks. Location: From a private collection. - The badge depicts a wartime lamp for lighting a dugout or dugout, made of a cartridge shell of a 45 mm gun. The upper part of the sleeve was clamped, a cloth wick was inserted into it. A little lower, laterally, a hole was made, into which kerosene was poured. The wick was supplied with kerosene and set on fire. Similar lamps - "smokers" were often sung in front-line verses and songs, became part of the stories in the feature films about the war, and, by right, became one of the symbols of the Great Patriotic War. Next to the image of the lamp on the icon is a quotation from Alexei Surkov's poem "The fire is beating in a close fire" ... written on November 27, 1941 in the front-line village of Kashino after one of the heavy battles along the Istra river. Under the impression of participating in the battle, Alexey Alexandrovich wrote a letter to his family, who was in evacuation. Later the poem was put to music by the composer Konstantin Listov and became a popular song of the war years called "In the dugout" .
