The film tells about the expedition of the Russian fleet to the shores of North America in 1863-1864, which became one of the most striking and interesting pages in the history of relations between the two countries. The campaign decided the most important task - the armed action of the coalition of European states against Russia was thwarted. In addition, the Russian fleet made a significant contribution to the fracture of the civil war of the North and South, largely predetermining the victory of Abraham Lincoln and the creation of the United States of America. In the archives, museums and libraries of Russia and the United States, there are many interesting documentary evidence of this expedition. The Presidential Library prepared an electronic collection "Expedition of the Russian Fleet to the Shores of North America." It included more than a dozen books, various documents and periodicals, and they will be presented in the collection of the first national electronic library of Russia .
