The educational project - a multimedia lesson in literature "The fact and image of Russian history in the works of Russian writers" - was timed to the Year of Literature, announced in Russia in 2015. Schoolchildren of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region were invited to participate. During the lesson, the students visited the multimedia hall, exhibition halls, electronic reading room, where they got acquainted with the literary images and historical facts of the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the Time of Troubles, the formation and flourishing of the Russian Empire in the 18th century, the socioeconomic and socio-political development of Russia in XIX century, dramatic and heroic XX century. The lesson also included the execution of the creative task (preparation for the lesson of the presentation based on materials from the funds of the Presidential Library). In multimedia halls, the participants discussed the projects they had prepared and selected the best one through an e-voting system
