In 1909, before the Cathedral in the name of St. Sampsonia Strannopriestsa was installed a monument to Peter I by the sculptor M. M. Antokolsky. The grand opening was held during the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Poltava victory. It was dismantled in 1929. In May 2003, by the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, the monument to Peter the Great before the Cathedral in the name of St. Sampsonia Strannopriestsa was restored.
