April 15, 2020 marks the 134th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Stepanovich Gumilyov (1886–1921), the poet of the Silver Age, creator of the School of Acmeism and the “Workshop of Poets”, playwright, literary critic, translator, traveler, officer of the Uhlansky regiment, gentleman of the two George Crosses. The Presidential Library’s collections contain abstracts of dissertations that reveal the rich oeuvre of Nikolai Stepanovich Gumilyov.

During the Northern War 1700-1721 Russia had been struggling for access to the Baltic Sea. Seizure of Noteborg and Nyenschantz fortresses enabled the Russian troops to control the entire extent of Neva from Ladoga Lake to the Gulf of Finland and opened for it the way to Baltic. However the Swedish fleet continued to threaten Russia.

The Regional Center of the Presidential Library, operating on the basis of the I. Ya. Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library, has prepared a virtual exhibition entitled As Above the Kulikovo Field. It is dedicated to Russia's Day of Military Glory – the day of victory of the Russian regiments led by Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy over the Mongol-Tatar troops in the Battle of Kulikovo.

Rare books from the Voronezh State University, stolen during the Great Patriotic War, were returned to the educational institution. The handover ceremony of 91 tomes of the 18th and 19th centuries was held at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin.
