Memorable Dates of Russia: Exhibition “Those Who Gave Us Peace and Beauty”, marking the 80th anniversary since the liberation of Voronezh from the Nazi invaders, opened

25 January 2023

The exhibition of paintings and graphic works Those Who Gave Us Peace and Beauty has opened in the Kramskoy Voronezh Regional Art Museum, marking the 80th anniversary since the liberation of Voronezh from the Nazi invaders.

January 25 is a special date for Voronezh residents. It was on this day in 1943 that the troops of the 60th Army under the command of General Ivan Chernyakhovsky finally drove the Nazi invaders out of the city during the Voronezh-Kastornoye offensive. The next day, after 212 days of bloody battles, citizens began to return to the over-90% destroyed city, and the date of January 25 became the second birthday of Voronezh.

The exhibition of works by Voronezh frontline artists, who not only gave us peace, but also captured the beauty of it, is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Voronezh from the Nazi invades. The hardships of the frontline years, the joy of Victory, peaceful working days, the beauty of the native land and beloved city – all this is reflected in the art of talented masters of painting and graphics.

There are about 120 works exhibited in total.

The exhibition will run until February 26, 2023.
