The first Russian-American book fair opened in New York

The first Russian-American book fair passes in New York. It is in annual traditional festival "Our heritage" which take place in the largest city of the USA. It’s organized by the Russian-American fund of culture with help of administration of New York, the newspaper "New York Daily News". The writer and poet Andrey Dementyev, the managing editor of "the Literary newspaper" writer Jury Poljakova and artist Zurab Tsereteli - members of Russian delegation arrives to the fair, which look place in the library of Brooklyn. The day before opening the mayor of New York Michael Blumberg hadhanded to Dementyev the special award for the investment in world culture and strengthening of relations between two countries. Besides books, there are a lot materials of Public chamber of the Russian Federation and the Russian fund of the world. The Russian association of reserve officers brought military-historical books which were gifted to the American association of veterans of the Second World War. The festival gives the chance to Americans to learn Russian culture, and to Russian-speaking citizen - to recollect the roots, to attach to native culture young generation, - the head of the Russian-American fund of culture Marina Kovaleva told. She said, "the holiday of Russian culture celebrates in New York the seventh year and already became an necessary part of a life of a multinational and multicultural megacity".
