History and culture: The exhibition “Sovereign Guard” from the collection of the Museum-Reserve “Kulikovo Field” in the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve

May 28, 2016, during the celebration of the 111th anniversary of M. A. Sholokhov, in the excursion and exhibition center "People's House" of the writer’s Museum-Reserve (the Rostov region) was opened the exhibition "Sovereign Guardian" from the funds of the State Military History and Natural Museum-Reserve "Kulikovo field".

In the XVI-XVII century, in the years of struggle of the Russian state with numerous raids of Crimean and Nogay Tatars on the southern outskirts of the Russian city was founded Epifan. Together with other fortified points the city played an important role in the defense of the state border.

The exhibition presents the results of archaeological research of Epiphany, conducted in the years 1983-1998 on the Upper Don archaeological expedition of the State Historical Museum and Tula archaeological expedition of the State Museum-Reserve "Kulikovo Field". The exhibition will help to learn more about the features of service in the early stages of the Cossacks in Russia.

To visitors will be particularly interesting to compare the features of military service and life of the Cossack population of distant areas from each other - the Rostov and Tula, see the common aspiration of the Cossacks to serve on the borders of the homeland, to be always ready to repel the enemy.

The exhibition will run until 4 September 2016.
