The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential Library collection has been enriched with materials from the Don State Public Library and from the Cultural and Historical Foundation “Link of Times”.

New acquisitions are devoted to the history of Russian regiments of the Imperial Army.

Drafted by Colonel of the Life Guards regiment of the Duke of Lichtenberg George Nikolayevich the work is devoted to the "History of the Life Guards Regiment. 1706-1801". V. 1 (Paris, 1938), which conducts the battle of historical succession from the leib-squadron (squadron) of Prince Alexander Menshikov, founded by Emperor Peter the Great, in June 1706 the first volume ends with the death of Paul I and the ascension to the throne of Alexander I. The publication is richly illustrated and it includes extensive notes and pointers, a variety of color and black-and-white illustrations on separate tabs, and text. Graphic drawings, title pages are made by the artist B. V. Zworykin.  

The work of Lieutenant Colonel A. Korganov History of the 45th Dragoon Seversky His Majesty the King of Denmark Regiment (Tiflis, 1884) contains information on the formation of the regiment, which served as the basis of the conditions and directions of its activity, the participation of the regiment in action in 1861, the troops of the results of military enterprises in 1862, on the peaceful activities of the Seversky regiment from 1864 to 1876, about the participation in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 (Storming of Kars, Erzurum blockade), and others.

Brief biography of the chief [Vlasov, Maxim Grigorievich] and reminder of the 5th Don Cossack ataman Vlasov regiments. 1812-1912 (Saratov, 1912), written by Vladimir Puzanov, contains a biography of the regimental commander Maxim Grigorievich Vlasov, and the description of the combat life of the regiment. Lists of the regiment, awarded for military merit and distinction, as well as lists of the dead and wounded are provided.

Description of military life of the 152nd Infantry Regiment of Vladikavkaz in the last war of 1877-1878-second period (Tiflis, 1881), compiled by staff captain Myshlyaev contains a brief outline of the history of the formation of the regiment and battle during the Russian-Turkish campaign of 1877-1878. (Fights with Aladzha and Avliare, Kars assault). It is also attached a list of staff and senior officers, consisting in the regiment during the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878.

Work by A. L. Zisserman is dedicated to the "History of the 80th Infantry Kabardinsky Field Marshal Prince of the Baryatinsky regiment. (1726-1880)" (St. P., 1881). Volume 1 describes the history of the formation of the regiment, described in detail the fighting during the Russian-Turkish war of 1735-1739., Russian-Swedish War of 1741-1743 years, the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774, The Caucasian War 1817-1864 (until mid-1840), the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1792 years, the Russian-Persian war of 1796, the Russian-Persian war of 1826-1828, the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829. Volume 3 describes the fighting regiments in the Caucasus since the late 1840s before the end of the Caucasian War 1817-1864.

Work by E. M. Kirilov History of the 114th Infantry Novotorzhsky Regiment (1763-1913) (Mitau, 1913), published for the 150th anniversary of the regiment, provides a historical description of the fighting regiments and major events associated with it, for the period 1763-1913. Results of names of commanders of the regiment, records, lists of the lower ranks, awarded the decorations, signs indicating the number and merits description.
