Internet and museums: The Moravian Gallery in Brno has posted its collection on the web

9 July 2017

The Moravian Gallery in Brno, one of the largest art museums in the Czech Republic, has posted its collection on the Internet. Now you can study the collection of the gallery without leaving home: the official website of the institution presents images of almost 200,000 exhibits.

Galleries from around the world are now pursuing a common goal - to make their exhibits available to the general public via the Internet. The British Museum in London published more than 2.3 million images of exhibits on the website and continues to replenish the online collection every week. The Austrian Albertina Museum has already "posted" over 90,000 works of art on the Internet.

The online catalog on the website of the Moravian Gallery in Brno includes digitized images of works of painting, sculpture; photos and graphic design.

Anyone who has access to the Internet can now find works in the catalog by the author's name, the name of technology, genre, material, plot and place of origin. Each exhibit accompanies a basic description.
