World Culture: The exhibition of the collection of the Morozovs to be open in Paris in the autumn of 2020

The exposition of masterpieces of Russian and French art of the early XX century from the collection of the outstanding Moscow philanthropists and collectors Mikhail and Ivan Morozovs are preparing by the State Hermitage, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery. The exhibition will be open in the autumn of 2020 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation (Paris).

At the beginning of the XX century, the families of the Morozovs and Shchukins played a key role in the cultural life of Moscow. Thanks to their work, the notion of "patron of art" appeared. They directly contributed to the international recognition of contemporary French artists. The collections of contemporary art created by the brothers Morozov and Shchukin are among the best in the world and are now kept in museums in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.

At the exposition, which will echo with the previous exhibition "Masterpieces of New Art - a collection of Sergei Shchukin from the State Hermitage Museum and the Pushkin Museum" (October 22, 2016 - March 5, 2017), will present a significant part of the masterpieces of modern art, purchased by brothers Morozova, including works by Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Bonnard, Denis, Matisse, Derain and Picasso.

An exceptional collection of religious works of French impressionism, post-impressionism and modernism, along with the works of artists of the Russian avant-garde, form a unique exhibition, which is unique in Paris.

The exhibition will be a continuation of the close cooperation of the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the State Hermitage Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery, which began in 2015 with the holding of joint exhibitions, "The keys to passion" (2015) and "Masterpieces of new art - Sergey Schukin collection of the State Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum" (2016).
