On April 26, 2024 the Presidential Library, as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia, hosted a lecture dedicated to the prominent Russian historian who belonged to the St. Petersburg historical school, Boris Aleksandrovich Romanov. This year he would have turned 135 years old.

The Head of State draws attention to the fact that, analyzing the causes that led to the world war, reflecting on its complex events, tragedies and victories, about lessons it taught – for our country and the whole world, "it is fundamentally important to rely only on archival materials, evidence of contemporaries, to exclude any ideological and politicized speculation."

On April 27, 2024 the lecture "Exploring Sakhalin", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the formation of Sakhalin State University, was held in the Presidential Library as part of the video lecture "Knowledge about Russia".

As part of the XX International Bibliological Conference, which is held at the National Library of Belarus on April 18 and 19, 2024, Dmitry Kosenko, specialist of the Department for International Cooperation of the Presidential Library, spoke about archival materials and documents about the history of Belarus presented in the Collection of digitized archival documents, film and photo materials "World War II in archival documents" on the portal The Presidential Library. The organizers are the Federal Archival Agency (Rosarchiv), the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and the Presidential Library.

On April 22 (May 4), 1894, Georgy Permyakov, a Soviet statesman, participant of the formation of Soviet power in Tyumen, the first chairman of the Bolshevik Tyumen City Council, the first provincial commissioner for military affairs, was born in Tyumen in a working-class family.

On May 3, 2024, the Collection "World War II in Archival documents" on the Presidential Library's portal was replenished with more than 40 photographic documents and manuscripts from the collections of the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RGALI) and the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GARF) of the key period of the Great Patriotic War (from November 19, 1942 to November 7, 1944).

On February 22, 2024, on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Collection World War II in Archival Documents, available on the Presidential Library's portal, includes over 280 documents on the counter-offensive of Soviet troops at Stalingrad, offensive operations in the North Caucasus and Donbass.

On March 7, 1924, in the city of Buzuluk, Orenburg Region, the future first People's Artist of the RSFSR in Tyumen Region, Georgy Ivanovich Dyakonov-Dyachenkov, was born into the family of operetta artist Ivan Mikhailovich Dyakonov and his wife Ekaterina Pavlovna, head of the costume shop.

On March 1, 2024 at 12:00 (Moscow time) a web conference “Development of North-Western Siberia” will be held at the Presidential Library. The event was organized as part of the festival program “Dialogues about Russian history. Development of North-Western Siberia", which is dedicated to the 430th anniversary of the city of Surgut.

The Presidential Library and St. Petersburg State Economic University continue to implement a joint educational project.

Digital copies of documents and archival materials that spotlight the history of the relationship between the state and youth were donated by the Presidential Library to the Sirius University Library, which opened on March 3, 2024 as part of the World Youth Festival.

From February 19 to March 5, 2024 the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library is holding a campaign “Warmed by the Crimean Spring” on the VKontakte social network. The event is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia and is held as part of the celebration of the Year of the Family.

On March 6 (18), 1844, Nikolai Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov, an outstanding Russian composer, conductor, teacher, creator of a school of composition, was born in Tikhvin, Novgorod province, into the noble family of Andrei Petrovich Rimsky-Korsakov (1778–1862) and Sofia Vasilyevna (1802–1888), née Skaryatina. 

The tradition of celebrating International Women's Day has long roots. At different times, the holiday, which has been celebrated in our country for 105 years, was called differently. For the first time in the RSFSR, March 8 was celebrated as an official holiday in 1919. In the early years of Soviet power, it was called “International Working Women’s Day”, and in the 1920s it became known as International Women’s Day.

March 9 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of the first person to conquer space, Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin. He lived a very short life - only 34 years. Gagarin conquered space at the age of 27.

On January 23, 2024, employees of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Pushkin Tomsk Regional Universal Scientific Library, attended advanced training courses “Library Science. Electronic libraries" of the Tomsk Regional Innovative Educational and Methodological Center for Culture and Art. 

On January 26, 2024 at 14:00, as part of the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting, a screening and discussion of the new documentary film “Studio in the Shelling Square” will take place. The film has been created at the Prosveshcheniye studio. The scriptwriter and director of the film is Lyudmila Shakht, producer is Lyudmila Leontyeva. The plot tells about the life of the besieged city, captured on tens of thousands of meters of newsreels.

Late in the evening of January 18, 1943 a message from the Soviet Information Bureau was presented on the airwaves.

On January 31, 2024 at 11:00 Moscow time the Presidential Library, as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia will host a lecture dedicated to Valentina Grigorievna Chernukha (1930–2014) - a prominent Russian historian who made a significant contribution to the study of the internal politics of the Russian Empire in the second half XIX century.
