Russian inventions: Pages of history
Year 2021 has been declared the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. The Presidential Library’s collection, marking this event, is dedicated to the history of Russian inventions.
The collection features legislative documents that determined the inventive activity in various historical periods; essays on Russian self-taught inventors; research of the patent history; videos on the weapons development in the Soviet Union. The array of archival materials about individual inventions of the XIX - early XX centuries is of particular interest. These documents allow considering the variety of innovative initiatives in the Russian Empire.
The collection involved materials from collections of the following institutions: Russian State Historical Archives, State Archives of the Russian Federation, Russian State Library, State Public Historical Library, Central Naval Library, Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property, Official Internet Portal of Legal Information, Center of Information Technology and Systems of Executive Authorities, Russian Historical Channel, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, Scientific Library of the Russian Academy of Arts, Shishkov Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library, Maxim Gorky Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library, Moscow Provincial Universal Library, St. Petersburg State University, Sverdlovsk Regional Library for Children and Youth, Ural Federal University, Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library, Central Library System of Krasnogvardeisky District (St. Petersburg), Federal Protective Service of Russian Federation, Children's Postcards Museum, private collections.
