Heinrich Gotthelf Kummer (1809-1889), a St. Petersburg music teacher and inventor. In 1846 he developed a device for automating calculations. His device had been mass-produced from the late XIX century until 1982.

Israel Abraham Staffel (1814-1884), a Polish inventor of computers, watchmaker, mechanic, the Demidov Prize awardee. In 1845 he presented his first computing machine. Then, he improved it and received many awards. He also created a two-colour printing press, anemometer, fan, etc.
