The collection marking the 195th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian geographer, traveler, statesman and public figure P. P. Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky features his memoirs, archival documents about his service activities, video recordings, and visual materials. Of particular importance are the scientist's research, as well as fundamental works on geography and statistics, compiled under his editorship (multi-volume works "Geography of Asia", "Geographical and Statistical Dictionary of the Russian Empire", "Picturesque Russia", "Russia").

The collection is devoted to the 200th anniversary of Sergey Solovyov (1820-1879), the outstanding Russian historian, academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. It features biographical research, documents about his career, various editions of History of Russia from the Earliest Times and other works, as well as documents on the founding of a Solovyov's scholarship at the St. Vladimir University.

The collection is timed to coincide with the 130th anniversary of the birth of Pitirim Sorokin - a prominent Russian sociologist and culturologist. He was born on February 4, 1889 into a family of a craftsman in a village in Vologda Governorate. He died on February 10, 1968 in Massachusetts, the USA. Pitirim Sorokin became the founder of integral sociology, made a significant contribution to the development of the theory of social mobility. He published more than 30 books.
