The Presidential Library and the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications are actively expanding interaction. After five years of successful partnership work, the parties entered into a new, supplementary agreement. It was signed in December by the Acting Director General of the Presidential Library Valentin Sidorin, and the Rector of the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications Sergey Bachevsky.

Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov came up with a proposal to set up museums devoted to the defence and siege of Leningrad in CIS countries, whose representatives helped to defend the city during the Great Patriotic War. His proposal was supported by participants in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s plenary session, which took place in the Tauride Palace on April 19, 2019.

Ivan Nikolaevich Yushkov was born on August 30 (September 11), 1833 in Tobolsk in the family of the priest of the Tobolsk St. Sophia Cathedral, Nikolai Andreevich Yushkov. After graduating from the Tobolsk Theological Seminary in 1852, he was appointed teacher of the parish school in his hometown. In 1853 he was appointed assistant inspector, and then acting inspector. For his diligent service he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislaus, III degree, and St. Anne, III degree.
