World Libraries: Swiss libraries donate books and equipment to Haitian libraries

A number of Swiss libraries, and educational institutions (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and its library, the Department of the public instruction of Geneva) along with assistance from Libraries without borders (BSF), have sent two shipping containers loaded with books and shelving for Haitian libraries.

Popular Russian video sharing and transmitting service RuTube has announced that in December 2010 it hit 1 million visits per day.  At the same time in 2010 RuTube user audience increased by 83%.

The National Research Council's Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (NRC-CISTI) has announced that the Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) are moving forward with the development of the Canadian Virtual Health Library (CVHL)-a first for Canada.

The periodical shelves at Stanford University’s Engineering Library are nearly bare. Library chief Helen Josephine says that in the past five years, most engineering periodicals have been moved online, making their print versions pretty obsolete — and books aren't doing much better.
