On April, 30 2009 the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress launched “Braille and Audio Reading Download” service (BARD), which allowed to download digital talking- and braille books.

Museums and Society: Tolstoy Museum Center to be set up to mark the writer’s 200th anniversary of birth

The Lev Tolstoy Museum Center is likely to be set up to celebrate the writer’s 200th anniversary of birth, announced Sergey Arkhangelov the Director of the Lev Tolstoy State Museum during the presentation of the museum’s concept of development. The meeting chaired by the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky was held in the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

The "Discover Moscow" portal promotes a tour around the capital. The narrator is Petya Kuznetsov, the hero of Agniya Barto's poems. February 17 celebrated the 115th anniversary of the children's poet. Marking this date, the portal released a thematic tour of the city centre. The online guide is made up of memorable sites related to Agniya Barto's life and career, as well as stories from her poetic cycle "I Live in Moscow."

The travelling exhibition “Unexpected” marking the 220th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin is opening on January 15, 2019 in the Small Exhibition Hall of the Kirov Central Park (St. Petersburg). On display are around 50 paintings dedicated to Alexander Pushkin by famous scenic artist Igor Shaimardanov. Through the year the exhibition will travel to 5 cities and will be staged in 5 museums.

The exhibition is dedicated to the life and career of the academician Afanasiy Fyodorovich Bychkov, who had worked in the Imperial Public Library for a long time and was appointed its director in 1882.
