Konstantin Nikolaevich Posyet originates from the old French family Possitt de Rossiet, whose descendant moved to Russia during the reign of Peter I. He was born on December 21, 1819 (January 2, 1820) in Helsingfors (now Helsinki) in the family of Russian Naval officer.
